Formalities before leaving: visa, passport and ESTA

Before living the adventure of his dreams, it is already happening ... in the United States.
The first thing to do to go to the USA is the visa. And the good news is that in the United States, as in most other countries, for tourist stays of less than 90 days, there is no need for a visa. So the question is resolved. Attention however, 90 days does not mean 3 months eh, that means 3x30 days ... and the Americans do not laugh with the rules.
On the other hand, two things are absolutely necessary:
  • A biometric or electronic passport with a validity period of 6 months at the entry of the country
  • Electronic Travel Authorization (ESTA) to recover at least 72 hours before leaving on the official website of the US territory security . There are sites that act as intermediaries, but they will take you money by the way, the link above is the only official one. The ESTA is valid for two years from the date of issue and costs $ 14 ($ 13.37). Print there, and send it to you by email just in case.
If you wish to make a road trip of more than 3 months (90 days), you will have to apply for a specific visa, which requires steps and pay more.
